Afghanistan beat Ireland by three wickets in the third one-day international at Stormont after reaching a target of 207 with 31 balls remaining. The visitors moved 2-0 ahead in the five-match series following the washed-out opener and their victory at Bready on Friday.
Ireland were dismissed for 206 in 46.3 overs after Afghanistan won the toss and chose to field. Cade Carmichael top-scored among the specialist batters with 32, while Gavin Hoey made 36 and Jai Moondra added 31 during a recovery in the lower order.
AM Ghazanfar returned three wickets for 29 runs and Rashid Khan took three for 44. Their spells repeatedly interrupted Ireland's attempt to build partnerships, although the late contribution from Hoey and Moondra lifted the home side beyond 200.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz led Afghanistan's reply with 71 from 77 balls, including five sixes and two fours. Ireland continued to take wickets around him, with Hoey claiming four for 34, but Afghanistan reached 207 for seven in 44.5 overs.
Mark Adair took two wickets and Byron McDonough one as Ireland created a late chance to tighten the contest. Rashid then added an unbeaten 37 to guide the visitors across the line and extend Afghanistan's run of ODI victories over Ireland.
The teams remain at Stormont for the fourth match on Wednesday, with the final ODI scheduled for Saturday. Ireland need to win both remaining games to draw the series, while one more Afghanistan victory would secure it.
