Essential site technologies

The public reading service does not use advertising or audience-profiling cookies. Protected editorial areas use essential sign-in and security technologies. Cloudflare may set the short-lived HttpOnly__cf_bm cookie to distinguish legitimate requests from automated abuse and protect the service. Subscriber accounts use an HttpOnly cookie namedbh_subscriber to keep a reader signed in securely for up to 30 days. It is set only after the reader signs in with a verified email address and password, and is removed on sign-out or expiry.

Payments

Checkout and billing management take place on Stripe-hosted pages. Stripe may use technologies that are necessary for payment security, fraud prevention and service operation under its own privacy and cookie information.

Analytics and advertising

Advertising pixels and behavioural tracking are not used. The publication records aggregate daily page counts without setting an analytics cookie or retaining a reader identifier, network address, referrer or browser profile. Browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals are honoured.

Browser controls

Readers can remove stored site data using browser settings. Blocking essential cookies will prevent protected editorial or subscriber sessions from working but will not prevent access to public reporting.
