Daytime road closures are continuing in Bessbrook as a £525,000 resurfacing scheme moves through its remaining programme. The work covers about 1.4 kilometres of the B112 along Main Street and Church Road.
The section begins at the Maytown Road junction and continues through the village, extending a further 265 metres along Convent Hill. The project is renewing the carriageway surface on a route used by local traffic and journeys between the surrounding settlements.
The road is closed on weekdays between 9.30am and 4.30pm, with evening and weekend access restored outside the working hours. Local access is being accommodated, although drivers should expect delays close to the active works.
The signed diversion uses Millvale Road, the A25 through Camlough and Newry, and Quarter Road, McClenaghan's Hill and Convent Hill. The precise route depends on the direction of travel and the location of the working section.
Substantial completion is scheduled for Friday, August 21, subject to favourable weather. Temporary signs remain the most current guide because traffic management may move as crews finish different parts of the resurfacing. Updates are also available through Trafficwatch NI.
