The UK has deployed Typhoon fighter jets and the Royal Navy destroyer HMS Dragon to the Strait of Hormuz as part of a multinational mission. The mission aims to secure the waterway and support commercial shipping through the region.
HMS Dragon is already en route to the Middle East and will be equipped with its Sea Viper air defence system. The destroyer is prepared for any operational role in the strait as needed.
The UK has allocated £115m in new funding for mine-hunting drones and counter-drone systems. These capabilities will support the mission’s defensive and independent objectives.
