Joel Cooper scored the decisive goal for Coleraine at Inver Park to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory against Larne.

The Bannsiders had trailed by two goals before mounting a successful counter-attack during the second half of the match.

This result marks the first league defeat suffered by Larne this season following their status as reigning champions and title favourites.

Prior to kick-off on Friday, Ruaidhri Higgins stated that declaring a statement victory was premature.

Following the conclusion of the fixture, the Coleraine manager expressed satisfaction with his team's performance in front of the travelling supporters.

The three points obtained place Coleraine six points ahead of Linfield, who currently hold two games in hand.

Larne remain eleven points behind their opponents and have four additional matches scheduled due to European competition commitments.

Earlier in the campaign, the two sides met in a goalless draw that failed to meet expectations given their status as top contenders.

Coleraine's attacking unit, featuring Cooper, Shevlin and Doherty, produced a significant burst of scoring activity within twenty-one minutes.

Larne had conceded only three goals across their initial seven league fixtures before the final match of the season.
