Crossmaglen Rangers have lifted their 48th Armagh Senior Football Championship trophy following a hard-fought encounter with Killeavy.

The match concluded at the Athletic Grounds with Crossmaglen emerging victorious after a period of intense competition between the two sides.

Killeavy, who were seeking their first county honour since 1948, started strongly with goals from Fergal Boylan and Shea Magill to take a five-point lead early on.

Aron Magennis briefly put Killeavy ahead before Crossmaglen began to find their stride through the efforts of brothers Oisin and Aaron O'Neill.

Pearse Blessing's goal in the second half proved pivotal as Rangers managed to pull clear from a spirited challenge by their opponents.

Despite several desperate attempts by Killeavy during stoppage time, including a conversion by Shea Magill and a two-pointer by Ciaron O'Hanlon, Crossmaglen held firm.

Late contributions from Gareth Murphy and Conor O'Neill reduced the deficit significantly before Pearse Blessing added another point to extend the margin.

Substitute Kealan McEntee later scored to further widen the gap while Odhran Caraher and Harry Cumiskey assisted in building a four-point cushion.

The final tally saw Crossmaglen win 1-19 to 0-17, marking their first recovery of the Gerry Fagan Cup since 2023.

With the county crown secured, Crossmaglen will now focus on the upcoming Ulster Club Championship quarter-finals against the Cavan final winners between Gowna and Kingscourt Stars.

The contest showcased a remarkable turnaround for Rangers who gradually found their rhythm after an early deficit.

Killeavy's resurgence after the restart highlighted the competitive nature of the fixture which saw scores traded throughout the match.

Both teams demonstrated high levels of skill with multiple two-pointers exchanged during open play and free-kick situations.

The victory represents another significant achievement in Crossmaglen's long history within Armagh football.
