Derry City defender Barry Cotter has signed for CSKA Sofia, the team that eliminated The Candystripes from the Europa League in July.
The 27-year-old joined Derry in February following a loan spell at League Two side Notts County earlier in the previous season.
His departure comes after The Candystripes were knocked out of European competition by the Bulgarian side on aggregate.
A 5-3 defeat in the first qualifying round was followed by a 2-1 home loss at the Brandywell Stadium.
The second leg match saw crowd trouble disrupt proceedings in the stands.
Cotter began his professional career at Limerick before moving to Ipswich Town.
He returned to the Republic of Ireland in 2021, playing for Shamrock Rovers and St Patrick's Athletic on loan.
A transfer to League One Barnsley in January 2023 saw him make 66 appearances before his contract was released.
