Dozens protest rising fuel prices in slow convoy across border

A slow-moving convoy of vehicles protested rising fuel costs in Northern Ireland, crossing into County Donegal before returning.

A convoy of vans, lorries, tractors, and a limousine began at an industrial estate near Strabane at 15:30 BST on Saturday. It moved slowly through town before crossing into County Donegal via the Lifford bridge.

Paddy McLaughlin, owner of a vehicle recovery company and limousine service, reported a fuel bill increase exceeding £5,000 in one month. He stated his company would remove lorries from service unless paid 25–30% more.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland monitored social media for planned protests and prepared to manage disruption. The Department for Infrastructure urged drivers to allow extra journey time.
