Forward Kess Elmore has been selected for Northern Ireland ahead of their 2027 Women's World Cup qualifying match against Portugal, marking her first inclusion in the national team.

The Sparta Prague striker arrives alongside Lucy-Jayne Grant from Galway United, who qualifies through her father born in County Down and adds depth to the defensive line.

Michael McArdle has spent considerable time in Northern Ireland reviewing Women's Premiership performances following the conclusion of the group stage cycle.

Three players have been rewarded for their recent form: Naomi McLaughlin, Jane McMaster and Charlotte Havern.

McArdle noted that while reaching a first World Cup remains a distant objective, these fixtures serve as preparation for future campaigns.

The squad includes goalkeepers Jackie Burns, Lauren Perry and Maddy Harvey-Clifford.

Defenders selected are Rebecca Holloway, Rebecca McKenna, Ellie Mason, Natalie Johnson, Fi Morgan, Abi Sweetlove, Emily Cassap and Lucy-Jayne Grant.

Midfielders Aimee Ker and forwards Lauren Wade, Casey Howe, Leyla McFarland, Cora Chambers and Kess Elmore round out the list.

McLaughlin impressed after switching from Aberdeen back to Glentoran mid-season, while McMaster has been a standout for Linfield and Havern played well for champions Cliftonville.

Several players are unavailable due to injury including Kelsie Burrows, Laura Rafferty, Nadene Caldwell, Megan Bell, Joely Andrews, Danielle Maxwell and Caragh Hamilton.
