Fire at Whiteabbey Hospital in County Antrim fully extinguished

A fire at Whiteabbey Hospital in County Antrim was fully extinguished after more than 50 firefighters responded. The incident occurred in an unused building and did not affect patient services.

A fire broke out at Whiteabbey Hospital on Doagh Road in County Antrim on 28 September 2025. The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service responded to a call at 11:09 BST.

Over 50 firefighters attended, supported by six fire engines and two aerial appliances. The fire was located in a derelict building and did not spread to occupied areas.

The Northern Trust confirmed no impact on patient care or hospital operations. Fire officers have completed post-fire checks and are no longer present at the scene.
