Gov Facilities Services Ltd has been recognised in the Sunday Times Top 100 Apprenticeship benchmarking process for 2026. The organisation ranked 12th among public sector entrants, according to information published today.
The rankings are compiled independently by High Fliers Research on behalf of the Sunday Times. Employers from more than 20 industries and business sectors entered the process this year, with entries scored and weighted according to workforce size before being ranked within their own sector.
GFSL said the ranking reflected its commitment to apprenticeships in a demanding working environment. As of December 2025, the organisation employed 76 apprentices. Across 2025, it recorded 36 new apprenticeship starts and 10 completions.
Gene Axson, head of learning and development at GFSL, said the benchmarking result reflected the organisation’s commitment to professional growth and development, as well as the work of apprentices. The announcement also credited the Learning and Development team and wider staff who support the apprenticeship programme day to day.
GFSL provides facilities management services in 47 prisons in the south of England. It is an arm’s-length body wholly owned by the Ministry of Justice. The organisation described the apprenticeship recognition as significant given the setting in which its services are delivered.
The Sunday Times Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers 2026 process gives entrants feedback benchmarking their apprenticeship programmes against other organisations in their industry or business sector. GFSL’s 12th-place ranking applies to the public sector category rather than the overall list across all industries.
