Macclesfield stun Crystal Palace in historic FA Cup upset

Macclesfield, a National League North side, defeated FA Cup holders Crystal Palace 2–1 in a match described as the biggest upset in the competition's 155-year history. The victory came despite a 117-place gap in league rankings between the teams.

Paul Dawson scored the opening goal with a header from a Luke Duffy pass, sending the home fans into celebration. Isaac Buckley-Ricketts added a second after a deflected shot fell to him, sealing Macclesfield's lead.

Yeremy Pino scored a free-kick in stoppage time to give Crystal Palace a late chance, but Macclesfield defended resolutely. The hosts held on to claim a result that marked only the tenth non-league win over a top-flight opponent in 100 years.
