Cleveland to host WNBA expansion team named Sirens

The Women's National Basketball Association has confirmed the expansion team in Cleveland, Ohio, will be named the Sirens. The team will begin play in 2028 as the league's 16th franchise.

The Sirens will play at Rocket Arena, the home of the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. Their performance centre is being converted from the NBA team's facility into a dedicated space for the new franchise.

The team's branding draws on Lake Erie, with blue tones reflecting the lake's gradient. The name and design were selected after a 13-month process involving community input and market research.
