IOC lifts ban on Belarusian athletes for 2028 Olympics

The International Olympic Committee has removed restrictions on Belarusian athletes competing in the 2028 Summer Olympics, while Russian athletes remain limited to individual neutral participation due to the suspension of the Russian Olympic Committee.

The IOC has lifted restrictions on Belarusian athletes participating in the 2028 Summer Olympics. This change follows the National Olympic Committee of Belarus remaining in good standing with the Olympic Charter.

Belarusian athletes will now be able to compete under their national flag at the Los Angeles Games. The decision reflects that the Belarusian NOC was never suspended and has not been involved in conflict-related actions.

Russian athletes will continue to compete as individual neutral athletes. The Russian Olympic Committee remains suspended due to its placement of four occupied Ukrainian regions under its authority.
