Ireland enter World Cup ranking pool after Spain defeat

Ireland’s men lost 3-1 to Spain in their final Pool C match and will face Malaysia next.

Ireland will move into Pool H of the Hockey World Cup after losing 3-1 to Spain in their final Pool C match on 20 August.

Lee Cole scored Ireland’s goal from a penalty stroke. The defeat ended Ireland’s chance of reaching the quarter-finals.

Ireland will face Malaysia and France in Pool H to determine their final tournament placing. Hockey Ireland lists the Malaysia match for 1pm Irish time on 21 August.
