Israeli airstrikes hit the Yemeni capital Sanaa on 28 August 2025, targeting a Houthi military site. The strikes occurred shortly after the Israeli military intercepted a drone launched by the Houthis toward Israel.

The Houthis reported that Houthi prime minister Ahmed al-Rahawi was among those killed in the strikes. Several companions of al-Rahawi were also reported dead in the attack.

The Israeli military confirmed it had intercepted a drone launched by the Houthis earlier in the day. The strikes followed a pattern of retaliatory actions after Houthi attacks on Israel and shipping in the Red Sea.
