Father Pierre al-Rahi was killed in a double Israeli strike on a house in Al-Qlayaa, a Christian-majority town in southern Lebanon. The first strike hit the house, injuring the husband and wife who lived there.
When neighbours, the Red Cross, and Father al-Rahi arrived to assist, the house was struck again. The second strike injured the priest and four others, with the priest dying shortly afterwards.
Father al-Rahi had stayed in the village despite an Israeli order to evacuate, choosing to remain with his parishioners. He had recently spoken publicly against armed groups, affirming his community's commitment to peaceful resistance.
