Timor-Leste to join ASEAN as 11th member in October
Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim announced Timor-Leste will become ASEAN’s 11th member at the October 2025 summit, pending fulfilment of one or two economic conditions. The decision follows years of negotiations and a formal application in 2011.
