Northern Ireland midfielder Shea Charles has joined Fulham from Southampton on a contract running until the summer of 2031. The Premier League club also holds an option for a further year, while the transfer fee has not been disclosed by either club.
Charles will wear the number 19 shirt at Craven Cottage. The 22-year-old can operate in defensive midfield or central defence and adds another senior option to Fulham's squad ahead of the new league campaign.
The Manchester-born player developed through Manchester City's academy before moving to Southampton in 2023. He spent the 2024/25 season on loan with Sheffield Wednesday and then joined Norwich City on loan for the following campaign, gaining regular experience in the Championship.
At international level, Charles has won 35 senior caps for Northern Ireland. He became the country's youngest captain and has led the side on four occasions, establishing himself as a regular part of the midfield under Michael O'Neill.
Fulham announced the signing on Tuesday after completing the registration and contract process. The move places Charles back in the Premier League and gives him the opportunity to compete for a place before Fulham's opening fixtures.
Southampton described the fee only as undisclosed in the official transfer record. Further financial figures have been reported elsewhere, but the Belfast Herald has not used an estimate in the absence of matching confirmation from the clubs.
