Northern Ireland delivered a commanding display to beat Ukraine 3-0 in a UEFA Nations League fixture played on Friday evening at City of Derry Airport's home ground.

The victory places the Irish Republic side at the summit of Group B2, having accumulated seven points from three matches in the current campaign.

Prior to this result, Northern Ireland had secured away victories against Georgia and a home draw with Hungary, while Ukraine recorded wins over Hungary and draws against Georgia.

Although possession statistics favoured the Ukrainians, the Irish Republic side demonstrated remarkable defensive organisation throughout the ninety minutes.

The match marked the third encounter in a series of four Nations League games scheduled for September and October.

Seventy fans from Derry travelled to Slovakia to support their team, joining the crowd as the final whistle sounded.

Ahead of this contest, the Northern Ireland manager indicated that three substitutions were made relative to the squad that started the 0-0 draw against Hungary on Monday night.

The manager described the visitors as underdogs entering the clash, despite the significant support provided by fans in Slovakia due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
