The Northern Ireland squad managed to equalise after three unsuccessful tries before establishing a commanding advantage late in the third period.
This performance secured progression for the Warriors, who are competing alongside Scotland and the Republic of Ireland in a four-team format.
The top two teams from this group will advance to compete in Sydney next year.
Wales remain active in their qualification journey with a match against the Republic of Ireland scheduled for Saturday, 26 September.
They subsequently face Scotland on Sunday, 27 September, to complete their bid for the global event.
Meanwhile, hosts Scotland delivered a dominant display against the Republic of Ireland, winning 84-29 in their later fixture.
