Ofqual has updated its interactive analytics map to give a more detailed local picture of qualification outcomes across England ahead of this year’s results days.
The regulator said the change means qualification results and subject uptake by subject will be published at local authority level on results days for the first time. Users will be able to explore results by local authority district, administrative county or unitary authority, and administrative region.
The platform shows the percentage of students achieving particular grades for each subject across different areas of England. It also shows how many students took each subject in a given area.
Ofqual said the update had been made in response to user feedback seeking more detailed and geographically accurate information. Previously, the map showed ceremonial counties with limited regional information.
The analytics platform covers GCSEs, A levels, T Level Technical Qualifications and Performance Table Qualifications. Ofqual said thousands of people use its analytics webpages during each results week.
The 2026 results data is due to be available from 9.30am on Thursday 13 August for A level results and Thursday 20 August for GCSE results, with figures taking a few minutes to appear. Ofqual said results day visualisations use its own data, which may differ slightly from Joint Council for Qualifications figures because data is received directly from awarding organisations slightly earlier.
