The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed that some officers involved in a 2023 data breach now have their names listed on the Northern Ireland courts website. The names were supplied by legal representatives acting for claimants pursuing compensation.
The Department of Justice removed the public court list as a precautionary measure following the publication. The Justice Minister stated there had been no data breach by her department, and that court listings are routinely published online.
The Police Federation for Northern Ireland's chair said the publication of officers' names appears to be another avoidable error. He stated those named deserve answers and expressed concern over the further publication of claimants' details.
