Protests erupted in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities against President Zelenskyy's decision to replace Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov. Demonstrators held signs and chanted against the move, expressing anger over the change.
Zelenskyy announced Major-General Yevhenii Khmara as the acting defence minister, citing his experience in technological combat operations. Khmara previously served as the acting head of the Security Service.
Fedorov stated he had proposed replacing Commander-in-Chief Syrskyi and Chief of the General Staff Hnatov, but Zelenskyy confirmed the conflict between the defence ministry and the General Staff was systemic. Fedorov declined an offer to remain as an adviser, citing conscience.
