Breandán Mac Cionnaith and fellow members of the Garvaghy Road Residents Coalition met with the Parades Commission in Belfast on Tuesday.
During the meeting, Mr Mac Cionnaith stated that his group is calling for an international mediator to be brought in to attempt to resolve the conflict surrounding the Drumcree parade.
The Orange Order intends to hold its procession along the predominantly nationalist Garvaghy Road area in Portadown on Sunday afternoon.
The scheduled event is set to commence at 1pm at Drumcree Church and conclude by 2.30pm at Carleton Street in Portadown town centre.
Both parties involved in the disagreement have been offered a mediation process designed to find a solution.
When asked whether he had received any indication from the commission regarding its likely decision, Mr Mac Cionnaith said he had obtained none.
Political organisations including Sinn Féin and the Democratic Unionist Party are also expected to engage with the Parades Commission before it issues its final ruling on the proposed march.
The commission is scheduled to start its deliberations on Wednesday, though its written determination could take between 24 and 48 hours to publish.
A decision not to permit a march down Garvaghy Road during that summer has been challenged by an order for the past three decades.
Violence connected with the dispute has previously resulted in riots, roadblocks and murders.
