Nova festival survivor Roei Shalev dies by suicide two years post-massacre

Roei Shalev, a survivor of the October 7 Nova music festival massacre, died by suicide on 10 October 2025. His death followed severe psychological trauma linked to the attack and the loss of his partner and mother.

Roei Shalev was found dead in a burning car on a highway exit near Netanya on 10 October 2025. Israel Police confirmed an investigation into the circumstances of his death.

Shalev had posted a goodbye message on his Instagram account describing intense inner pain and stating he felt already dead inside. The message detailed his inability to endure the suffering from the massacre and the loss of his partner Mapal Adam.

CCTV footage showed him at a gas station filling a canister with fuel prior to the incident. Friends and the Nova Tribe Community Association reported ongoing mental health struggles among survivors of the attack.
