A Russian drone strike hit a minibus transporting mineworkers in the Dnipropetrovsk region of eastern Ukraine on 1 February 2026. The attack resulted in at least 12 fatalities, according to DTEK, the country’s largest private energy firm, which confirmed the vehicle was carrying workers after a shift.
DTEK later revised the death toll from 15 to at least 12, indicating initial reports had overestimated the number of fatalities. The strike occurred in the town of Ternivka, where footage showed fire damage on the first storey of the vehicle and emergency services responding to the scene.
Separate drone strikes in central Dnipro and Nikopol killed a man and a woman, and injured a 72-year-old man, according to Ukrainian officials. Additional attacks in Kherson and Kharkiv caused one serious injury and three others injured, respectively.
