St Brigid's secured their maiden senior football championship by defeating O'Donovan Rossa in an all-Belfast Antrim SFC final.

The Belfast club, founded in 1998, overcame early nerves to lead by two points at half-time thanks to a flurry of scoring from Ronan McGrady and JJ Higgins.

Stephen Beatty struck an early two-pointer for Rossa before the match got underway, but Sean Fleming's side found their rhythm quickly.

Corey Walsh added a brilliant point in the 15th minute to extend Brigid's advantage as they struggled initially against their cross-city rivals.

Ronan McGrady proved pivotal after the interval, scoring three times including a crucial goal that levelled the score at 25 minutes.

JJ Higgins continued his dominance with three additional scores in added time to seal a two-point victory for Cathal Murray's side.

The final whistle marked a historic moment as the field was filled with blue and yellow flags and flares celebrating the win.

O'Donovan Rossa fought valiantly throughout, with Diarmuid Rogan scoring early but failing to overcome the persistent pressure from St Brigid's.

This result stands as the first senior title for the Belfast club in their history.

The victory confirms St Brigid's ability to compete at the highest level of Antrim football against established opposition.
