On 17 February 2026, a Russian drone attack targeted a vehicle carrying employees of the Sloviansk Thermal Power Plant in Mykolaivka, Donetsk Oblast. The strike resulted in the deaths of three engineers and left one injured, according to the State Emergency Service of Ukraine and First Deputy Minister of Energy Artem Nekrasov.
The incident occurred in the Kramatorsk district, where emergency responders attended the scene and assisted the injured individual. Firefighters extinguished the vehicle fire that followed the attack, as confirmed by the State Emergency Service. The attack was reported to have taken place in the morning hours, consistent with other strikes across Ukraine on that date.
The same day, Russia launched additional attacks on Odesa, Dnipro, and Burshtyn using missiles and drones. A separate drone strike on 1 February had killed 12 miners and wounded 16 others in the Dnipropetrovsk region, according to DTEK CEO Maksym Timchenko.
