A U.S.-led coalition comprising the United Kingdom, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, and the United States has endorsed a civilian-led political dialogue for Sudan. The process is to be facilitated by the African Union, Arab League, European Union, IGAD, and the United Nations.
The dialogue aims to establish an independent civilian-led transitional authority within approximately six months. It will include political actors, civil society groups, women’s organisations, youth representatives, and regional stakeholders.
The coalition reaffirmed that there can be no military solution to the conflict and stressed that only a credible, inclusive, and civilian-driven process can determine Sudan’s future. Obstruction of the transition by any individual or group may lead to coordinated international measures.
