The UK government has announced it will ban support for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps under a new National Security Act. The measure enables law enforcement to act against individuals providing support to the group.
The designation comes after the Islamic Movement of Companions of the Right claimed responsibility for arson attacks on Jewish community ambulances and synagogues in London. The group has also claimed attacks on a Persian-language media organisation critical of Iran's government.
The UK has also designated the Russian GRU Volunteer Corps and the IMCR as banned entities. Officials stated that Iran and Russia are using proxies to carry out sabotage and attacks on UK soil.
