The United Nations has reimposed economic and military sanctions on Iran following the activation of the snapback mechanism by the UK, France, and Germany. The move was triggered by Iran's failure to comply with its obligations under the 2015 nuclear deal.
Iran has not authorised IAEA inspectors to access its nuclear sites or provided a report on its high-enriched uranium stockpile. The E3 countries stated Iran had repeatedly breached its commitments without addressing their concerns.
The UK, France, and Germany cited Iran's lack of cooperation with the IAEA and its nuclear escalation as reasons for triggering the snapback. They stated they had no alternative but to proceed after extensive dialogue failed.
