U.S. to hold Iran talks in Islamabad on April 20

U.S. president Donald Trump announced that negotiations with Iran will take place in Islamabad on 20 April, with a delegation led by Vice President JD Vance and envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner. Iran has rejected the proposal, and a U.S. naval blockade remains in effect in the Strait of Hormuz.

The United States has announced that talks with Iran will be held in Islamabad on 20 April. The U.S. delegation will be led by Vice President JD Vance and include envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Iran has rejected the proposal for new peace talks, according to state media. The U.S. has maintained a naval blockade of Iranian ports since 12 April.

The blockade follows U.S. complaints that Iran has not reopened the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has blocked the strait to non-Iranian vessels since February.
