Afghanistan launched attacks against Pakistani military positions along the shared border in response to Pakistani air strikes conducted four days prior. The strikes occurred in multiple sectors of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Pakistani forces delivered an immediate and effective response across several border sectors including Chitral, Khyber, Mohmand, Kurram, and Bajaur. The Pakistani Ministry of Information and Broadcasting reported heavy casualties on the Afghan side.

Pakistani officials claimed 133 Afghan Taliban members were killed and over 200 wounded during the military response. They also reported 27 Afghan Taliban posts destroyed and nine captured.
