Amazon has decided to close all 19 of its UK Fresh stores after a thorough evaluation of business operations. The closure affects all but one of the stores, which are located in London.
The company cited substantial growth opportunities in online grocery delivery as a reason for the closure. Amazon plans to expand its Whole Foods presence, aiming for 12 stores in the UK by end 2026.
Amazon will offer redeployment opportunities to affected employees. The firm has previously ended ventures quickly, including a nine-month security robot project in 2024.
