Golden Tempo wins 158th Belmont Stakes, trainer Cherie DeVaux makes history

Golden Tempo won the 158th Belmont Stakes on 6 June 2026 at Saratoga Race Course, securing victory in the third leg of the Triple Crown. Trainer Cherie DeVaux became the second woman to train a Belmont winner, following Jena Antonucci in 2023.

Golden Tempo won the 158th Belmont Stakes on 6 June 2026 at Saratoga Race Course in New York. The horse, ridden by Jose Ortiz, finished in 2:03.49 over a 1 1/4-mile track.

Golden Tempo entered the race with 9-2 odds and overtook Commandment in the final stretch to win by 1 1/4 lengths. Renegade finished third, having been second in the Kentucky Derby.

Trainer Cherie DeVaux became the second woman to train a Belmont winner, having previously made history as the first female trainer to win the Kentucky Derby. The victory made her the first woman to win two Triple Crown races.
