Israeli airstrikes in Khan Yunis and Rafah killed at least 44 Palestinians. The Israel Defense Forces launched strikes after two soldiers were killed in an attack it attributed to Hamas.
The IDF reported firing at a suspicious vehicle near the Yellow Line, which it said posed an immediate threat. Three Palestinians were killed by Israeli tank fire east of Gaza City near the line.
The ceasefire remains fragile despite US mediation efforts. Israeli forces continue to control more than half of the Gaza Strip, and the Rafah crossing remains closed. The second phase of the peace plan, including an international stabilisation force, is pending.
