The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise is promoting Root Cause Analysis training for professionals across the agri-food sector.
CAFRE said the course is designed to strengthen problem-solving skills and support continuous improvement within organisations. It is delivered by experienced food technologists at Loughry Campus in Cookstown.
The programme examines established methods for identifying the underlying causes of problems rather than dealing only with symptoms. CAFRE said the tools can help businesses investigate issues such as product contamination, process failures and customer complaints.
Rosemary Brennan, senior technologist in CAFRE’s Supply Chain Integrity Team, said root cause analysis is an essential skill for people working in food production and supply chains. CAFRE said participant feedback has been highly positive, with many reporting greater confidence in addressing complex challenges.
The college said the training is relevant as the food industry faces supply chain pressures and rising consumer expectations. It said investment in these skills can help organisations improve performance, protect product integrity and support a culture of continuous improvement.
The one-day programme is delivered at Loughry Campus, Cookstown. The next course is scheduled for Wednesday 30 September 2026, with a fee of £65. CAFRE said further information and booking details are available through its website.
