The College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise is continuing to invest in equine education and rider development through its Rider Performance Hub at Enniskillen Campus.
The specialist facility combines simulator technology, sport science principles and coaching. CAFRE said it provides a controlled learning environment for riders to develop skills, improve performance and build confidence.
The hub is designed for a wide range of riders, from beginners to experienced competitors and industry professionals. Its equipment includes two Racewood Dressage Pro Simulators, a Racewood Eventer Simulator and a Racewood Mark 10 Racing Simulator.
CAFRE said the simulators allow riders to practise riding scenarios while receiving immediate feedback. Training can focus on balance, posture, position, coordination, use of aids and riding accuracy.
The facility also includes rider conditioning equipment for off-horse training. CAFRE said programmes can target balance, mobility, core strength, coordination and postural control, with the aim of improving performance and supporting long-term resilience.
The hub is used across full-time Higher and Further Education equine programmes, linking rider development with coaching principles. CAFRE said this gives students practical experience and industry-relevant skills for future careers in the equine sector.
CAFRE also offers short courses, workshops and professional development through the facility. These include rider biomechanics workshops, simulator-based position analysis, coach education, confidence-building sessions and clinics focused on dressage, jumping and general riding effectiveness.
