Catherine Connolly was sworn in as the 10th president of Ireland at Dublin Castle on 11 November 2025. The ceremony took place in St Patrick's Hall, where she was administered the oath by the chief justice Donal O'Donnell.
She assumed office following the end of Michael D Higgins' 14-year term at midnight on 11 November. Connolly travelled from Farmleigh in Phoenix Park to Dublin Castle in a ceremonial motorcade with her husband, Brian McEnery.
The inauguration was attended by the taoiseach, tánaiste, senior ministers, judges, and former presidents Mary McAleese and Mary Robinson. First Minister Michelle O'Neill and Sinn Féin president Mary Lou McDonald were also present at the event.
