Keiko Fujimori assumed the presidency of Peru following her victory in the June runoff election. She will lead a government focused on security, economic growth and infrastructure development.

Keiko Fujimori was sworn in as president of Peru on 28 July 2026 after winning the June presidential runoff. The election result confirmed a regional shift toward conservative leadership in South America.

Fujimori's Popular Force party and its ally, Popular Renovation, hold half the Senate seats in the new legislature. This gives her government a strong base to resist legislative challenges.

She has pledged to implement an iron-fist approach to crime, including a megaprison modelled on El Salvador’s Cecot. The government will temporarily deploy the military to lead security operations in high-crime areas.
