Cliftonville Ladies moved eight points clear at the top of the Women's Premiership after coming from behind to beat Linfield Women 3-1 at Midgley Park. The leaders have played one match more than the teams immediately below them.
Linfield made the stronger start and went ahead through Eve Reilly in the second minute. Cliftonville worked their way back into the contest and Teegan Lynch equalised in the 39th minute, sending the sides into half-time level.
The visitors completed the turnaround shortly before the hour when Toni-Leigh Finnegan put them in front. Lynch then scored her second goal with 15 minutes remaining to settle the game and secure all three points for the north Belfast side.
The result increases Cliftonville's advantage over Linfield from five points to eight. Linfield remain level on points with Glentoran Women, who have a game in hand, leaving the title race dependent on the next round and the outstanding fixture.
All three leading sides are away from home on Friday. Cliftonville travel to Lisburn Rangers, Linfield visit Derry City Women at the Ryan McBride Brandywell Stadium and Glentoran face Larne Women. Those matches are scheduled for 7.45pm.
Crusaders Strikers are due to host Lisburn Ladies at 8pm in the other Friday fixture. The league programme then pauses before the next set of matches later in August, when the leading teams will have another opportunity to close the difference in games played.
