Communities Minister Gordon Lyons expressed satisfaction at the commencement of the final delivery phase for a £2 million regeneration project targeting Markethill.
This marks the completion of the Small Settlements Regeneration Programme's reach across three rural communities in Armagh.
Construction activities are scheduled to begin on 2 October 2026 and will focus on upgrading infrastructure along Main Street.
The initial site for these works is the Dolphin Takeaway, with progress set to move northward through the town centre.
Key improvements include resurfacing pavements, repairing road kerbs, and installing fresh street furniture to improve the local environment.
These enhancements aim to benefit residents, commercial operators, and tourists visiting the area.
Significant groundwork has already been delivered in Rathfriland and Gilford since March 2026, visibly altering the appearance of those settlements.
The funding for the scheme is jointly provided by the Department for Communities, the Department for Agriculture Environment and Rural Affairs, the Department for Infrastructure, and Armagh City Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council.
