Organisers are positioning Derry as the venue for the twenty-first edition of the Solheim Cup, though the event itself is scheduled to take place at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands.
The European team aims to reclaim the championship following their defeat by the United States with a scoreline of fifteen and a half points to twelve and a half in Virginia two years ago.
The tournament bears the name of Karsten Solheim and his wife Louise, who are Norwegian-American golf club manufacturers.
They have sponsored the contest since its first edition in 1990 and have contributed significantly to the development of women's golf over five decades.
Previous winners include the United States with eleven titles and Europe with seven, while a fourteen-fourteen draw occurred at Finca Cortesin in Spain in 2023.
Lottie Woad and Charley Hull from England are confirmed members of the European squad alongside eight other automatic qualifiers.
The line-up also features Leona Maguire from Ireland, Julia Lopez Ramirez from Spain, Nastasia Nadaud from France and Mimi Rhodes from England.
Nordqvist, a three-time major champion who retired as a player in August, will serve as captain for Europe with assistance from Caroline Hedwall and Anne van Dam.
