People seeking to apply to the Troubles Permanent Disablement Payment Scheme have just over two weeks to complete an online application before the deadline at the end of August, the Northern Ireland Assembly’s Executive Office Committee has said.
The committee said online applications must be submitted by 11.59pm on Sunday, 30 August 2026. Applications made on paper will continue to be accepted for a further two days, but must arrive by 5pm on Tuesday, 1 September.
The differing closing times are important for applicants choosing how to submit their information. An online application requires completion before the Sunday night deadline, while the paper route has a separate weekday cut-off at 5pm.
The scheme is intended for eligible people who have a permanent physical or psychological injury arising from Troubles-related incidents. According to the committee, annual payments under the scheme can range from £2,000 to £10,000. The amount depends on an assessment of permanent disablement, rather than being a single standard award for all applicants who are accepted.
