Israel carried out a strike in Gaza that killed Mohamed Odeh, the newly appointed commander of Hamas’s armed wing. The operation involved two fighter jets and targeted Odeh in the Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City.
Odeh had served as head of Hamas intelligence during the October 7 attack and was responsible for planning operations against Israeli civilians and military personnel. He was appointed to replace Ezzedine Al-Haddad, who was killed in a prior Israeli strike.
The Israeli Defense Ministry stated that Odeh was one of the architects of the October 7 assault and had been targeted in previous attacks. His death follows a series of strikes that have eliminated several senior Hamas figures, including Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Deif.
