The Israel Defense Forces reported that Akram Abu Madi was killed in an airstrike conducted in southern Gaza. He was identified as a member of Hamas's military wing who participated in the October 7 attacks.

The IDF stated that Abu Madi had recently worked to restore Hamas's operational capabilities. He was targeted due to his role in planning future attacks against Israeli forces and civilians.

An unarmed suspect was detained by Israeli soldiers near the Kerem Shalom border crossing. The military confirmed no infiltration into Israeli territory occurred during the incident.
