The minibus was struck in the Zeitoun neighborhood of Gaza City on 17 October 2025. The family, including seven children, were traveling to inspect their home after being displaced.
The Israeli military stated the vehicle crossed the so-called yellow line, an internal demarcation. It claimed the vehicle was deemed a threat after firing warning shots.
Gaza’s Civil Defense reported nine recovered bodies and two children missing, with severe fragmentation. The dead included Sufyan Shaaban, his wife, and the Abu Shaaban couple with their children.
