The Global Sumud Flotilla reported drone attacks and explosions near its vessels south of Greece, with at least 13 explosions heard and communications disrupted on multiple boats. No casualties were confirmed, but damage occurred to several vessels involved in the mission.
Italy and Spain deployed naval frigates to the region to provide protection and support for the flotilla’s journey. The vessels were sent in response to the reported attacks and to assist with possible rescue operations.
The flotilla includes approximately 50 vessels and participants from multiple countries, carrying symbolic humanitarian aid for Gaza. Israel has not accepted the flotilla’s aid, proposing instead that it be offloaded in Ashkelon for transport into Gaza.
