Jim McGuinness has been confirmed as Donegal's new football manager for the upcoming campaign, marking a fourth consecutive year under his leadership.
During this extended period of service, the Ulster county secured back-to-back Ulster Senior Football Championship titles in 2024 and 2025 alongside a historic appearance in the All-Ireland final last summer.
McGuinness previously led Derry to victory in the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship in 2012 before returning to the role on a three-year agreement with an option for a further year.
Although the county reached the League of Ireland Division One final against Kerry earlier this month, their championship campaign ended without a trophy after extra-time defeats by Down and Dublin respectively.
Mickey McCann will continue managing the senior hurling team for two more years following his appointment in 2018.
The GAA board has not yet announced any specific conditions attached to the new contract or details regarding future performance targets.
This decision follows the conclusion of the current season which saw significant progress on the league stage but limited success in the provincial and national championships.
